Running for Our Future
Local Working Class Roots
I grew up in Carver working on cranberry bogs and as a logger with my father’s logging company. As a kid, I had dreams that seemed very far away at the time, but my family always fostered my belief that I could achieve whatever I wanted in life through hard work.
The American Dream
I put myself through college and earned a degree in mechanical engineering. Later, after directing multi-million dollar capital campaigns for community hospitals, I attended and graduated from Georgetown University Law Center, serving on the editorial board of the Law Review.
I was recruited out of law school and became a successful litigation attorney helping some of the most innovative companies in the world protect their inventions across a broad spectrum of technologies. I now own and operate my own law practice in Sandwich serving small businesses.
My private sector experience has given me many insights, including the problems small businesses face every day and how technological advancements serve as a spur to economic growth.
Starting as a logger/bogger, with no guarantees on what tomorrow might bring, and working to become a successful attorney is part of my American Dream. I am running for Congress to ensure the American Dream is alive and well for future generations.
But America is in trouble right now, and our elected leaders are making poor decisions that will inure to the detriment of our future generations.
We are over $17 trillion in debt, run huge deficits, have widespread unemployment, and our working families are shouldering an increasingly heavy burden as the cost of living and taxes go up.
The President has led us down the wrong path with a government takeover of healthcare and policies that discourage success, cause more dependence on government, hurt our economy, and threaten our national security and standing in the world.
The current Massachusetts Congressional delegation serves as nothing more than a rubber stamp to these harmful policies.
We do not suffer from a failure of the American System or the American Spirit — we suffer from an unprecedented failure of leadership.
We must return to the mindset and ethic of sacrificing today to provide a better tomorrow for our future generations.
We Will Achieve Prosperity
The good news is that we will fix this.
We the People control our destiny, not the government. We have the power vote the wrong people out of office and vote the right ones in.
With sound leadership, we will create a pro-growth economic environment for our businesses and communities.
We will balance the budget and pay our debt.
We will stop Obamacare and fix our health care system.
We will protect our seniors’ retirement security.
We will have a strong national security and coherent foreign policy.
We will honor our veterans and fix the VA system.
We will secure our borders and address our immigration problems step-by-step with common sense.
We will fix the educational system by getting Washington out of our classrooms.
But achieving this prosperity won’t be easy — we must work extremely hard to secure the future for our kids and grandkids.
I respectfully request your vote and support so we can begin this important work right now.
|Very truly yours,
Daniel L. Shores
